RAJOURI, Feb 21: The members of Civil Society Rajouri and parents of Police Constable Tariq Mehmood who died in mysterious gun shot at DySP’s house in Jammu on December 3, 2011, have demanded a high level probe into the matter.
In a press conference held here today, the Civil Society members – Yogesh Sharma, Khillat Bhat, Vivod Gupta and Abdul Qayoom, father of the deceased cop alleged that due to influence by some police officials, the case was derailed from proper investigation. They alleged that it is unfortunate that IGP Jammu ordered an inquiry into the case but till date no FIR has been registered in this connection.
Unfortunately, young constable who was driver of DySP Daljit Singh died due to mysterious gun fire at his residence in Jammu. The local Channi Himmat police started dragging feet into the case in very beginning and tried to give twist. The parents and relatives even met the SSP and the IGP but till date the police has to register an FIR.
It was also later claimed that Crime Branch was investigating into the case but for the last more than one year, nothing has come out of this case and parents and relatives of the deceased are being befooled by investigating agency. They pointed out that this Constable was going to be married on December 12, 2011 and his death under mysterious circumstances at the residence of his officer is still a mystery. They said Tariq was driver and no weapon had been issued to him. Whose gun was used in firing and what transpired inside, no body knows except the people inside that house at that time.
They sought the intervention of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and DGP into the matter. They also warned to launch agitation if the police remained inactive.
