JAMMU, Sept 7: A meeting of State Committee of Centre of Indian Trade Union (CITU) of Jammu and Kashmir was held here today.
The meeting was presided over by Om Parkash, General Secretary CITU J&K.
Speakers in the meeting opposed the move of the Government to privatise electricity supply in J&K.
Speaking in the meeting Om Parkash said that the move is not in the interest of the general public and will also affect thousands of workers working in the electricity department.
He said that it is the duty of the Government to provide electricity to the public at reasonable rates but the private companies will only work for their profits.
Senior CITU leader S.P Kesar said that general public and workers of electricity department should fight tooth and nail against the move.
