CIC advises JMC to create robust system for receipt, disposal of RTI applications

JAMMU, Sept 8: Chief Information Commissioner (CIC), Khursheed Ahmed Ganai held interactive session with the officers of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) here, in which all the Public Information Officers (PIOs) and officers associated with the disposal of RTI applications participated.
On the occasion, CIC also handed over the new print of Jammu and Kashmir Right to Information Act, 2009 alongwith J&K Right to Information Rules, 2012 to M Raju, Commissioner, JMC. He advised the PIOs to have an understanding of the transparency act and ensure that the information under the Act is disseminated in a hassle free manner.
After assessing detailed status of RTI appeals, the CIC advised the JMC to create a robust system for receipt and disposal of RTI applications and also erect a billboard at the main entrance giving information about the names of Public Information Officers PIOs and First Appellate Authority.
