Chuni apprises Div Com about PoJK DPs’ plight

JAMMU, June 10: A deputation of SOS International, an organization for PoK Displaced Persons led by its chairman Rajiv Chuni today met the Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Dr Raghav Langer and discussed several problems being faced by the PoJK DPs.
While apprising the Divisional Commissioner, Chuni said that with the bifurcation of posts of the ex-officio Provincial Rehabilitation Officer from the post of Custodian Jammu, has created enormous problems for the members of PoJK DPs who are aspiring for the documents related to the office of the PRO Jammu. He said that PoJK DPs, while obtaining the domicile or other certificates, the basic requisitions are needed included the Form-A, Form-D, Nominal Roll and Loan Ledger but in the absence of the PRO, the applicants are in morass.
He questioned, “How it is possible that the Provincial Rehabilitation Officer is sitting in Secretariat Srinagar can issue the documents when the record is lying in the office of Custodian Jammu?”
He further said that since inception of post of the PRO Jammu, both the posts were entrusted with a person so that the affair related to the PoJK DPs may be carried on smoothly. The office of Custodian is equally related with the affairs of PoJK DPs as most of the DPs have been allotted with the land related to Custodian.
Mentioning about the importance of role of Nodal Officer for expediting the cases related to the distribution of relief of Rs 5.50 lakh, Chuni said, “Government of India has appointed the Divisional Commissioner Jammu as Nodal Officer to monitor the relief distributing process and others issue confronting to PoJK DPs and it is the responsibility of sitting Div Com to review the distribution process.”
He said that several cases of relief of Rs 5.50 lacs are lying in the concerned office for the disposal but due to non-availability of the PRO the files are being dumped in the office as Deputy Provincial Rehabilitation Officer Jammu is not authorised to take final decision over the relief files.
He further said that the members of PoJK DPs while sale or purchase of their lands/plots/quarters or for seeking any loan from the Banks, the aspirants needed the verification from the allotting authorities in case of land, quarter and plot but in the absence of the Provincial Rehabilitation Officer Jammu they are facing of lot of hardship.
Divisional Commissioner gave a patient hearing to the deputation and assured that he would immediately consider all the issues pertaining to the PoJK DPs. Chuni was accompanied by VK Datta and Ved Raj Bali.
