JAMMU, Apr 10: BJP spokesperson on Kashmir Affairs, Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo made an earnest appeal to the Kashmir Pandit community to vote in favour of Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) overwhelmingly in the Lok Saba elections beginning from tomorrow.
In a statement issued here, today he said that it is the BJP which has taken care of the issues and concerns of the Pandit community during, before and after the forced exodus of the community from Kashmir due to ethnic cleansing in the Valley. It was the BJP which came forth during the 1986 carnage against them in Kashmir and which raised the issue of their plight in and outside the Parliament.
The manifesto which has been named as “Sankalp-Patra” by the party, released in New Delhi, shows deep commitment of the party towards the cause of Jammu and Kashmir and the Kashmiri Pandits. It is an acknowledgement by the party of the efforts of the nationalist forces in the State that the Vision Document declares abolition of Article 370 and Article 35A. While other political parties openly want ‘unconditional talks’ with the secessionist and terrorist forces in the State, the BJP has categorically said that extremism and terrorism will have zero tolerance at the governmental level. There can be no two opinions that the BJP is one with the Kashmiri Pandits on the issue of the integration of Jammu and Kashmir with the rest of India. The Vision Document released yesterday is one more name for the concept of “India of my Dreams”, he added.
He raised strong objection to the statement of the spokesperson of Pakistan Foreign Affairs that the abrogation of Article 370 was not ‘acceptable’ to them since it violated the UN resolution on Kashmir. He said that Pakistan has no locus standi on the internal issues of the Indian nation and in case Pakistan is so concerned about the UN resolution, it is suggested to withdraw its occupation forces from the entire PoJK as soon as possible so that the Indian Government deploys its troops all over forthwith, he added.
He said it needs to be clarified that for India, for all practical purposes, UN resolution on Kashmir has lost relevance, since, because the UN itself called it “time barred and irrelevant” long ago.
Pakistan needs to acknowledge in its own interest that the balance of power has shifted globally with the emergence of India at the global level which is a recognized international narrative now. India is fast approaching to become a 5-Trillion Dollar economy nation and the world looks up to it and its leader, Narendra Modi with hope and expectation. Modi has caught the imagination of the people globally and is recognized as a new ray of hope for making India and the world reach newer destinations in near future.
