JAMMU, Mar 2: Channi Himmat Residents’ Association (CHRA) has expressed serious concern over abandonment of OHT (Overhead Tank) in Sector No 3 by the PHE authorities without any substantial or tangible reason.
The issue came up for discussion during a meeting of the association held today under the chairmanship of its president, Advocate VK Grover.
The speakers said that the project was started about ten years back by the then Government as a measure of augmentation of water supply in the water starved Channi Himmat Housing Colony which was also directed by the J&K High Court and assured by PHE in a writ petition filed by this association.
“Despite having filed an affidavit in the High Court deposing sufficiency of supply the PHE has miserably failed to maintain regular and adequate supply while on the other hand the PHE authorities left the work of OHT, when it was almost been completed”, the meeting said.
The speakers resolved to approach Governor NN Vohra for adequate instructions to the PHE department to fulfill its social and contractual commitment with the J&K Housing Board and fix responsibility for abandonment of OHT.
