JAMMU, Dec 28: DDC Member Suchetgarh Taranjit Singh Tony appealed to the Prime Minister to look into the Administration of Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory as farmers’ land being targeted by the real estate developers and the colonizers.
While addressing a public meeting at village Shek-e-Chak, Panchayat Faloura in Suchetgarh, the DDC Member said as the earlier laws to safeguard the agricultural land is being modified and altered to facilitate the colonizers and real estate owners. He said that such move will be countered by the farmers with strong protest against the J&K UT Government. He said that the only occupation left for unemployed is agriculture and that too is being targeted by the real estate mafia and administration has become hand-in-glove to suit the requirement of real estate mafia.
The DDC member said all such policies which are hell bent upon against farmers and the glaring example is Gharana. He said that the neighbouring country like China is creating all facilities for its villagers and farmers along the international borders facilitating the whole new village on Government expenses whereas in India the J&K UT Government is taking the land of farmers forcibly and the farmers are suffocated because of the negative approach of the LG Administration on farmers and agricultural issues.
Tony demanded that the Government should exchange land in place of land chunks which the affected farmers have given for development of the aforesaid wetland which is host to many species of birds that visit Jammu and Kashmir from far off places like Siberia, Russia, etc.
Youth leader Gharu Choudhary expressed resentment against the government for rising unemployment in Jammu and Kashmir as not a single recruitment drive was conducted in the border town since 2016.
Shamsher Singh, Jagatar Singh, Youth Leader Gharu Choudhary and Balbir Singh Chib and ex-serviceman Tony Chib highlighted the problems being faced by people of the area.
Those who accompanied the DDC Member include Sham Lal Bhagat, Sarpanch Chokroi Upper, Naib Sarpanch Roshan Bhagat, Panchayat Lower Chokroi and Vicky Choudhary.
