JAMMU, July 15: Natrang’s month-long Summer Theatre Workshop for Children culminated here today with brilliant performance of a new play ‘Vocal for Local’ written by Sumeet Sharma and enacted by Children at Abhinav Theatre.
Prof. Umesh Rai, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu was chief guest on the occasion and he along with Balwant Thakur, Director Natrang presented certificates to the participants.
Dean Students Welfare, University of Jammu, Prof. Prakash Anthal was amongst dignitaries.
The play ‘Vocal for Local’, in a very interesting manner, speaks about connecting to our roots and feeling a sense of pride in India’s immense contributions to the world. Drenched in more than enough knowledge of the world and western glorifications in internet, textbooks etc, the new generation feels alienated towards the glorious past of India. To understand and appreciate our own country and region is an imperative and need of the hour and this was very creatively expressed in the play.
The workshop was conducted under the supervision of Padmashri Balwant Thakur in which Nitika Aggarwal provided Bharatnatyam mentoring to the children.
The dances were choreographed by Sunny Mujjoo. Kanan Preet Kaur assisted the workshop. The Audio Track was edited by Nitish Sharma, Dr. Arun Gupta and Dr. Neelam Sharma provided Yoga inputs.
Lights were designed and operated by Pankaj Sharma & Suraj Ganjoo, Sound by Lokesh Chander and Kananpreet Kaur.
Publicity & Design was taken care of by Chander Shekhar & Vanshika. The management was looked after by Mohd. Yaseen, Mihir Gujral, Chirag Anand, Aadesh Dhar and Mahikshit Singh.
