JAMMU, July 4: To give an impetus to agriculture and Horticulture sectors in the State, the State Advisory Board for Development of Kissans is taking innovate research measures for the same.
The newly appointed Vice Chairman of the Board, Daljit Singh Chib while talking to media persons here today after the return of his five days tour to the two states of Delhi and Haryana said in the changing times research based work needs to be done to boost the agriculture and horticulture production in the State.
He said during his meeting with the higher ups in agriculture and horticulture sectors in the twin states he appealed them to provide technical know how to the State for boosting agriculture, horticulture and dairy production.
Mr Chib said in this regard he called on Agriculture Minister of Haryana, Om Parkash Dhankat and discussed various issues of horticulture and agriculture growth in J&K and Haryana with him. “Since horticulture is a flourishing sector in Haryana, I requested him to provide the technical know how of the latest techniques to the farmers of J&K”, he added.
The officers of Agriculture, Horticulture and Haryana Marketing Board who were present in the meeting assured to provide training to J&K farmers when deputed for orientation course and training to Haryana, he said.
Mr Chib was also assured by the Chief Executive Officer Haryana Marketing Board Anil Malik that the alternative site for unlading of fruit trucks from the State will be provided to the State at Ghanoor Sonipat.
He was informed that Sahiwal and Karan Barriers cows can be suitable breeds for J&K State.
He was also informed that production of vegetable can be revolutionized in J&K if the same technology is adopted which is adopted in Haryana.
Chib also met the Union Home Minister, Raj Nath Singh at New Delhi and discussed various issues regarding agriculture with him. He stressed that the unemployed youth of the State be appointed in army and para military forces.
During his meeting with Union Agriculture Minister, Radha Mohan Singh the VC informed him about the devastating floods in the State during last two years and demanded to continue the policy of 90:10 percent central share funding pattern to the State.
