JAMMU, Nov 18: Former Minister and senior Congress leader Gulchain Singh Charak today said that he has cherished desire to do `something special’ for Bishnah constituency if the people supported him in elections.
Addressing public meetings at Prithipur and Kanhal villages in Bishnah today, Mr Charak said that he was associated with the Bishnah since long and was contributing as per his capacity for the welfare of the people and upliftment of the weaker and down trodden sections besides border migrants. Mr Charak said that he was well aware of the problems of the people of this entire belt.
Mr Charak said that local problems like unhygienic condition of lanes and drains, improper irrigation and electricity facility and supply of unsafe drinking water, de-silting of local water canals/ kools, unemployment and compensation to the border farmers and firing victims are some of the major issues which would be on top of his priority. Apart from this, he wanted do something more and `special’ for this constituency which has always remained his `Karma Bhumi’.
The Former Minister assured the people that eradication of unemployment by initiating special recruitment drives of the local youth in the belt forces besides undertaking provisions of a mini-stadium for the Bishnah town, a separate degree college for Arnia tehsil and proper accommodation and sufficient staff for Bishnha Degree College would be among his priorities. He claimed that he would put his all the efforts to make Bishnah a model town.
Several others speakers including Capt Harshverdan, Dr Gurdass Bhagat, Gambhir Dev Singh, Surjit Singh Sarpanch and Shamsher Singh Chib also spoke on the occasion.
