JAMMU, Mar 5:The Former Union Minister, Prof Chaman Lal Gupta has indicted the politicians who are engaged in creating fuss by seeking proof of the results of the IAF air strikes and creating doubts instead of believing own forces which having demonstrated great valour and their mite.
He also assailed the controversial characters for their annoyance over the Government action in withdrawing the large number of guards and vehicles provided to the separatist leaders of Kashmir as also a ban on Jamat-e-Islami.
In a statement, Prof Gupta said that it was sad, bad and even ill-designed that some controversial characters linked with Maha-Gathbandhan, led by Congress, were raising fingers about the facts of air strikes thus making mockery of the forces sacrificing their blood and lives for the security of the country and its people. “Nothing can be more deplorable than this type of politics,” he added.
Referring to the withdrawal of security cover provided to separatist leaders, he observed that this sounds strange that the anti-national activities were going on at the cost of Indian exchequer for so many years costing crores of rupees.
About the ban on Jamat-e-Islami, Prof Gupta said that seeds of radicalism in Kashmir were sown by the Congress rulers themselves in late sixties when their estranged leader, Sheikh Mohd Abdullah had boycotted the Assembly polls and gave a call of Tark-e-Mawlat (social boycott) of Congressmen by terming them as insects of dirty lane (Gandhi Nali Ke Keere).
To counter the Sheikh, he recalled that Congress managed the emergence of Jamat-e-Islami and also brought some relatives of Mirwaiz Yousuf Shah, an old rival of the Sheikh, from Pak Occupied Kashmir to form their Action committee which was led by Moulana Farooq.
When Jamat-e-Islami opened large number of their Madarasas and schools, visionary Pt Prem Nath Dogra had warned the Congress leaders about implications of these moves but his observation was ignored.
Prof Gupta said that the menace of radicalism in Kashmir has grown in not only one day but was the result of many follies of the rulers coupled with the machinations from across the borders. He said that it needs firmness as also vision and time to have corrections.
