Challan produced against fraudster impersonating as PA to Chief Secy

JAMMU, Aug 8: Crime Branch Jammu has produced charge sheet against the fraudster, who cheated people for duping their money by impersonating himself as staffer of the office of Chief Secretary J&K.
The accused, namely Ashwani Bhardwaj, son of Shiv Kumar Bhardwaj, resident of JMC 39, House No. 223 Julakha Mohalla Darbar Garh, Pacca Danga Jammu, was booked on the basis of a complaint filed by the Director Tourism Kashmir. As per the complaint, the accused, impersonating as PA to Chief Secretary J&K, had made a phone call in the office of Assistant Director Tourism Leh and asked the PA to direct the Assistant Director Tourism Leh to deposit money in his account as some of their relatives were in Leh and were in need of it.
During investigation, it was proved that a transaction of money was credited in the account of accused in SBI Purani Mandi Jammu. Further investigations established that the accused had cheated 21 persons more among others on various occasions and duped them of their money as an impersonator.
Taking cognizance of the complaint, Crime Branch arrested the imposter. In this regard, case FIR number 34/2019, U/S 420,170 RPC P/S Crime Branch, Jammu was registered on 14-06-2019 and after investigation, challan was produced in the e Court of Sub-Judge, Jammu in stipulated time frame against accused Ashwani Bhardwaj.
