JAMMU, July 14: Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP), State executive member, Raman Suri has urged the Governor, Satya Pal Malik to immediately convene a meeting of Transport Department, Public Works Department (PWD) and all those associated with providing safe roads to the people for chalking out a workable formula to end road accidents in J&K State.
Suri urged the Governor to make officials accountable for overloading, over-speeding, callous attitude of drivers, casual approach towards precious human lives, half-hearted works on roads and dereliction of duties. He said that these are primary causes of accidents but we learn nothing and move on only to wait and watch for next mishap.
“Government should sensitise drivers towards their duties and if public transport system has collapsed then the same should be changed,” he stated in a handout.
