Chairman JMC Committee for regularizing illegal bores, water connections

JAMMU, July 6: Chairman Public Health and Sanitation Committee of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), Narinder Singh Jamwal here today voiced for regularizing illegal water connections and private bores.
In a meeting of PHE Sub Divisions Muthi and Sitlee (Rural Division), Jamwal said the concerned officials should start drives in their jurisdictions to act against illegal water connections by issuing notices and also identify the unauthorized bores dug by private persons without permission from PHE Department.
He asked the staff to ensure that no unauthorized connection should be allowed in their jurisdiction.
AEE, JE, XEn Rural and Urban Joint Commissioner (Works) were present in the meeting.
Jamwal asked the staff to convene regular meetings with locals to make sure that regularizing illegal connections doesn’t become an issue.
He said after the end of rainy season camps will be held to review the status of PHE Department and the meetings shall be held to share information about projects and stations of PHE department.
The Chairman directed the concerned staff to address issue of leakage in water pipes in all sections and categorically said that local stations should not be stopped in summer seasons in the wake of water needs of people.
He asked the staff to send a letter to XEn (E) for the availability of lights on tube wells.
Jamwal also said that staff strength of Jal Shakti Department and PDD should be increased considerably to provide hassle-free services to the people.
Others present in the meeting were JMC Councillors Mohinder Kumar, Rekha Manhas, Kapil Singh Chib, Anita Sharma, Tripta Devi, Suraj Parkash, Ghar Singh Chib and Chairman Social Justice Committee, Kuldeep Singh Chib.
