JAMMU, Jan 18: A chain snatcher was arrested by Police in Pounichak area here.
A police spokesperson said that a complaint was lodged at Police Post Pounichak by one Rekha Jamwal wife of Surinder Singh of Chowki Choura at present Lakshmi Vihar, Bohri, stating therein that some unknown persons snatched her gold chain.
On this, he said, a case FIR under the relevant sections of the law was registered at Police Station Domana and further investigation started.
During investigation, the police spokesperson further said that special teams of Police Post Pounichak led by incharge Police Post rounded up a suspected person later identified as Jatinder Singh of Simbal Camp, Jammu.
During sustained questioning, the suspect confessed to his involvement in the crime and on his disclosure, the snatched chain was recovered from his possession within one hour of the incident, he said.
Further investigation into the case is underway, added the police spokesperson.
