JAMMU, Dec 17: Central Government Pensioners’ Welfare Association (CGPWA) celebrated National Pensioners’ Day function at Indian Institute of Public Administration (IIPA) here today.
Dr SS Bloeria, Vice Chancellor, Central University Jammu and former Chief Secretary was the chief guest and Dr Ashok Bhan, former DGP was the guest of honour.
The function was attended by a large number of Association members and special invitees from various organizations of State Government pensioners, besides social activists.
JK Vaid, general secretary, CGPWA briefed the house on latest welfare actions taken by the Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare, New Delhi, besides new initiative by Government of India on channelizing experience and skill of pensioners into meaningful socially useful activities.
SS Wazir, president CGPWA presented the welcome address and highlighted background of the Pensioners’ Day which was first celebrated in the country on December 17, 1983.
VP Sharma, patron, delivered a comprehensive power point presentation on the activities and achievements of the Association. The presentation was well illustrated with photographs taken on various occasions in recent past.
SS Bloeria in his address lauded the efforts being put in by the Association for the general welfare of the civil society.
BK Raina, vice president, CGPWA presented vote of thanks.
The National Pensioners’ Day was also celebrated at Srinagar Branch Office of the Association.
