UDHAMPUR, Sept 2: Some social workers today called on CEO Municipal Council Udhampur K K Chalotra and submitted him a memorandum highlighting various issues such as garbage problem, lack of awareness among the people of Udhampur etc.
They alleged that no strict action has been taken for imposing ban on polythene in the town and listed some suggestion in this regard.
They demanded strict action against those found selling/ using polythene, proper awareness camps to make people aware about the bad effects of polythene bags, collection of garbage from door to door by the Municipal Council, proper duty roaster of sweepers and constitution of inspection teams for surprise checking of shops.
The CEO Municipality assured all possible measures for cleanliness in the town and a complete ban of sale/purchase of polythene bags.
