Centre to double wages of SPOs shortly: Jitendra

DODA, June 21: The Central Government in principle has agreed to double the emoluments of SPOs in the State from Rs 3000 per month to Rs 6000.
This was announced by Minister of State  in PMO, Dr Jitendra Singh while addressing a mammoth public rally here, this afternoon.
Dr Singh soon after reaching Jammu in the morning from Union Capital straightway visited Doda.
He said the issue was taken up by him with Union Ministry of Home Affairs which in principle has agreed to double the emoluments of SPOs from Rs 3000 to Rs 6000 per month. With this decision, over 30,000 SPOs and VDCs will be benefited in the State who were appointed to combat terrorism in late nineties when militancy was at peak in the State.
Dr Jitendra Singh, who for the first time visited Doda after taking over as Union Minister of State last month was given a tumultuous welcome by people from all walks of life on his arrival here.
Dr Singh, who addressed a massive rally in the town, said construction of tunnel from Kal Jugasar  to Himachal Pradesh will be taken up soon to link the Doda district with neighbouring State of HP and the tourist circuit in the area will be revived to boost the tourist trade and economy of the people of this hilly belt.
He also announced that young scientists’ from J&K will be given scholarships by his Ministry for their encouragement so that they can too compete with other scientists of the country and visit abroad for knowledge.  Dr Singh expressed his thanks to the people of all communities irrespective of their caste, creed or religion for their massive support to him during the election and ensuring his victory by a huge margin.
He said the Union Government is committed to solve the problems of people and in this connection a new kind of work culture has been evolved in the country by the NDA Government.
Dr Singh said Modi Government’s main focus will be on development, public welfare and all important works will be under taken in his Constituency including the construction of Ganpat bridge.
He also announced that the peoples’ demand regarding opening of KV at Doda will also be taken up by him with Union HRD Ministry very soon.
He said the Rozgar Mela (first job fair) will be held in Kathua district next month and subsequently it will be held in all districts of the State including Doda.
He said the construction companies in power sector constructing various hydro electric power projects in the Doda, Kishtwar and Ramban districts will be asked to absorb the local youth whether skilled or unskilled.
Dr Singh said that soon he will establish his office at Jammu which will have a complete liaison with his Delhi Office to settle the people’s grievances so that they didn’t have to rush Delhi for redressal of their problems and waste money, time and energy.
He said the documentation of all Hydro electric power projects in the area will be made to devise the ways and means to supply the quantum of power to local areas also.
He said that he is committed to address the aspirations of all the people irrespective of their religion, region, caste and colour.
After the rally, Dr Singh held a meeting with senior civil and police officers of the district and issued directives that the approved works under Prime Minister’s Reconstruction Plan (PMRP), MGNREGA and PMGSY be taken up in hand on war footing basis. He said the DC will intervene and find out that what are the loopholes in these projects including Ganpat bridge so that they are taken up in hand immediately. The meeting among others was attended by the DC and SSP Doda  and  all other officers of the district. Dr Singh later hold ‘Janta Darbar’ in Doda, which continued till late in the night in which he listened and addressed problems of the peoples.
