JAMMU, May 16: Census 2026-27, being conducted after a gap of 15 years, will begin with self-enumeration from May 17 to May 31 in Jammu city and adjoining areas.
This was stated by Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation, Dr Devansh Yadav, while addressing media persons here today.
He said the census exercise will cover around 8 lakh population spread across 75 wards, nearly 15 outgrowth areas and some slums.
Yadav said over 1200 enumerators of JMC will conduct the census exercise.
The JMC Commissioner said residents can upload their details online through sec.census.gov.in during the self-enumeration period from May 17 to 31.
After completion of the online process, he said census teams will visit every household and the details submitted online will be auto-fetched to facilitate the exercise.
He said Census Ambassadors, including MLAs, have also been nominated to assist the teams and encourage public participation.
The Commissioner further informed that house listing will be carried out in June this year, while population listing will be conducted in February next year.
He appealed people to participate enthusiastically in the self-enumeration and make the Census exercise a success.
