Census of OBCs, 2021

This with reference to news items, “CS reviews Preparatory work for conducting Population Census 2021” DE 09.11.2019,
Chief Secretary, J&K UT, gave a detailed programme, for conducting the population Census 2021 in the UT J&K. The House listing and House hold census will be held between First June and July 15,2020. The population enumeration will be held in Septemer 2020 in snow bound areas. Nearly 30,000 enumerators and supervisors are needed to complete this work. Director Census Operation is the Chief Liason Officer with Planning Development and Monitoring Deptt on regular basis.
In this connection, OBC of UT J&K would like to bring to kind notice of the Govt that it is for the first time after 1931 that OBC data is to be collected in Census 2021. This was disclosed by none else than Rajnath Singh former Home Minister of India on 01.09.2018. Census 2021 will for the first time in Independent India collect data on Other Backwards Castes (OBCs). The disclosure came after, former Home Minister Rajnath Singh reviewed the preparation for Census 2021.
The National Sample Survey Organisation (NSSO) in its report, had announced that the OBC Population in the country was around 41 percent of the total population. In the previous reports, there were 8.19 crore errors which were reported in the Caste particulars of which 6.73 crores errors were rectified. In 2021, Census the number of mistakes or errors will absolutely be less, negligible.
Census of OBC, other Backward Classes has become very essential, because without exact figures of OBC in the states and Union Territories the Development Schemes particularly for Backward masses cannot be launched and the desired results cannot be achieved.
