Cedar logs worth lakhs seized

BHADERWAH, Feb 21: Tightening the nose of the green gold smugglers, the forest protection team today seized Cedar logs worth lakhs at compartment 66 Neeru Range of Forest Division here.
As per sources, on specific inputs, a forest protection team headed by Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Bhupinder Kumar and DFO Abhijeet Joshi conducted a raid at compartment 66 Neeru Range of Forest Division.
During search, the team seized Cedar logs worth lakhs, while the green gold smugglers managed to escape from the spot.
Hinting towards involvement of forest officials in the smuggling of the green gold, DFO Abhijeet Joshi said that such massive damage is not possible without involvement of forest officials.
“Strict action would be taken against the erring officials and the smugglers, who will be found involved in smuggling of the green gold from the forest areas of this mountainous belt”, Joshi assured.
