CEC reviews inter-State coordination in evacuation of stranded passengers

LEH, May 6: To ensure smooth interstate coordination for transit of stranded Ladakhi passengers during evacuation, the Chairman/Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC, Leh Gyal P Wangyal convened a meeting of Executive Councillors of LAHDC Leh at Council Secretariat with Divisional Commissioner Ladakh Saugat Biswas who is also the UT Nodal officer and overall incharge for coordinating movement of stranded persons form all the States.
The meeting was attended by Dy Chairman Tsering Sandup, Executive Councillor for Agriculture Phuntsog Stanzin, Executive Councillor for Education Konchok Stanzin, Executive Councillor for Minority Affairs Mumtaz Hussain, Deputy Commissioner/ CEO LAHDC, Leh Sachin Kumar, SSP Leh Sargun Shukla and DSP Traffic, Rigzin Sangdup.
Divisional Commissioner Ladakh Saugat Biswas informed the meeting that his office is coordinating with almost all the States from where stranded Ladakhi passengers are being planned for evacuation. For airlifting of patients and Rail transportation for Ladakhi passengers from South India, Div Com said that he has already written letters to Indian Air Force and Indian Railways.
Discussion on exploring more accommodation facilities at Jammu for inbound passengers and at Srinagar and Sonamarg en route so that more stranded passengers would be mobilized towards Jammu from other States, appointment of Nodal Officer at Leh for payment of transportation and other expenses and arrangement of food and refreshment at Jammu, Sonamarg, Minamarg, Khaltsi etc was held at length.
