JAMMU, Dec 8: Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh today said the Government has undertaken various initiatives for the holistic development of the desert district of Kargil.
The Deputy Chief Minister was interacting with Chief Executive Councilor, Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), Kargil, Kachoo Ahmed Ali Khan who called on him.
The Deputy Chief Minister said the Government is committed for developing Kargil on modern lines keeping the local architecture and landscape in view so that the people living there get all the requisite and modern urban facilities. He said the town already stands taken up under the AMMRUT programme which would accelerate the development of this historic area.
Referring to the power sector, the Deputy Chief Minister said the Government has already undertaken necessary steps for upgrading and augmenting the energy sector in the region. He said several new schemes have been introduced in the area which would go a long way in resolving the problems related to the power supply in the area.
The CEC raised several issues related to various sectors including PDD, Housing and Urban Development and asked for early redress of the same. He also demanded release of diesel charges and the funds earmarked for the AMMRUT scheme.
The Deputy Chief Minister assured the CEC that he would get the issues resolved at the earliest.
