LEH, Apr 16: Chief Executive Councillor (CEC) LAHDC Kargil, Feroz Ahmed Khan met Divisional Commissioner Ladakh, Saugat Biswas and discussed issues of essential commodities, evacuation of Iran returnee pilgrims etc.
The CEC demanded allowing the vehicles carrying essential commodities to be moved together following medical screening.
The Divisional Commissioner informed that the administration has ensured maximum influx of essential commodities and has requested the merchant associations through LAHDCs for bringing-in supplies keeping the holy month of Ramzan in consideration.
The CEC also discussed the issues related to bringing back the Iran returnee pilgrims to Ladakh after completion of their quarantine period.
Biswas informed that the administration is in regular touch with army and air force in this regard and measures have been taken for the safe return of the pilgrims to Ladakh at an earliest following the directions of GoI regarding movement of passengers.
Biswas requested the CEC to facilitate agricultural activities in Kargil and oversee that the agricultural season yields optimum production.
Other issues discussed during the meeting were related to the future planning regarding the school education sector, the stocking of essential supplies for next year etc.
