LEH, Sept 15: Chief Executive Councillor (CEC), LAHDC Dorjey Mutup inaugurated a cafeteria at T-Mod, Durbuk built at the cost of Rs 60 lakh by Wild Life Department, Leh.
He was accompanied by Councilor Chushul and Durbuk, Chief Wildlife Officer, Wildlife Warden, Leh, SDM Durbuk, Tehsilder, Xen R&B, Xen PHE, AD Education, ACD, Leh, BMO Leh and block level officials of Forest and other departments.
CEC convened a review meeting at Tangtse headquarter to take stock of the progress of ongoing works. He instructed the concern engineers to process the tendering of sanctioned projects and complete the ongoing works in this working season. He was apprised about the demands and problems of the people in Durbuk, Tangtse, Chushul and nearby villages. He directed SDM to provide with a list of vacant posts of government employees in different departments and assure to fulfill them at the earliest to run the block offices efficiently.
Councilor Chushul and Durbuk stressed on the need for installation of hand pumps in schools to provide the students with clean drinking water facilities.
The people also demanded for opening a branch of SKUAST centre in Durbuk and plantation of sea buck thorn in Durbuk on lines of its successful plantation in Maan and Chushul.
BMO informed about the Rubella vaccines campaign to be started in Changthang region and said that very soon they will achieve 100 per cent vaccination in the villages of Durbuk block. He requested for upgradation of the PHC building in Tangtse which is in a shabby condition.
CEC gave a patient listening and gave assurance to take up the demands and problems with concerned authorities for redressal.
He directed Xen PHE to conduct feasibility survey and install hand pumps in schools on top priority. He also instructed concern officer of all the departments to monitor and pace up the ongoing works to ensure its completion by the end of the season.
Later, CEC attended the Parents Day of Government Higher Secondary School, Tangtse as the chief guest on the occasion. CEC directed Xen R&B to complete the tar macadamisation of the school road before the season ends. He also inspected the ongoing work of girl’s hostel in Tharuk. He said that girl’s hostels are being constructed in Tharuk, Diskit, Nyoma and Sakti and once its completed the hostels will be provided with all kind of basic facilities.
