KARGIL, Apr 10: Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC, Kargil Feroz Ahmad and Deputy Commissioner/District Magistrate and CEO, LAHDC, Kargil Baseer ul Haq Choudhary took stock of the preparedness of the Administration and Health Department in terms of healthcare and other required facilities for COVID-19 mitigation measures in Drass during a tour of the Sub Division here today.
The CEC and DC inspected the healthcare and other necessary facilities at the screening point and quarantine centers at Meenamarg as and quarantine center established at Tourist Facilitation Center (TFC) Drass.
The officers concerned informed the CEC and DC that in addition to the 28 bedded quarantine facilities set up at TFC Drass and Minamarg, one more 35 bedded quarantine center has been established at Trauma Center Sub District Hospital Drass.
The CEC and DC while expressing satisfaction on the overall arrangements lauded the efforts of the SDM Drass and other officers for establishing the facilities.
During the course of the tour, the CEC and DC also inspected the snow clearance operations at Pathri near Zojila Pass.
The officers connected with snow clearance operations informed the CEC and DC that clearance of snow triggered by fresh snowfall is in operation in full swing from both sides with around a 100 meter stretch yet to be cleared.
Meanwhile, a number of people including the BDC members of Drass met the CEC and DC Kargil and projected their issues which mainly included augmentation of ration and water facilities.
The CEC and DC assured the people that all their genuine demands would be fulfilled in phased manner.
Regarding augmentation of water supply, the officers concerned were given on spot directions for resolution.
The CEC and DC urged people to follow the lockdown, social distancing and other COVID-19 preventive measures in letter and spirit so as to contain spread of the deadly virus.
People were also assured that availability of ration and essential commodities will be ensured from time to time during the lockdown.
