CB registers case in Rs 1.92 cr fraud over sale of house

JAMMU, Mar 6: Crime Branch Jammu has registered criminal case in Rs 1.92 crore fraud over a residential house constructed in one Kanal plot in Gandhi Nagar.
The case was registered against accused Rakesh Kumar Gupta, son of Suraj Parkash Gupta, R/o H.No. 3/Sector-3 Flat No. 04 Shingari Enclave Trikuta Nagra, Jammu; Ravinder Gupta, son of Late Ganesh Dass Gupta, R/o 13-P Sector 3, Trikuta Nagar, Jammu and Champa Devi, wife of Gandamal R/o H. No. 03, Rajinder Nagar, Canal Road, Jammu for their involvement in duping the complainant of Rs 1. 92 crores by hatching a criminal conspiracy and inducing the complainant for entering into a false agreement to sell a residential house, viz House No. 20/2 Extension, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu constructed in one Kanal plot of land.
The case owes its origin to a written complaint lodged by Sardari Lal Gupta, son of Parmanand, R/o 191-A Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, alleging therein that the accused Rakesh Kumar and Ravinder Gupta introduced him to accused Champa Devi, who intended to sell her house. The complainant expressed his willingness to purchase the house for Rs 1.92 crore. The accused assured the complainant that sale deed would be executed after getting full and final payment. However, the accused persons received token money of Rs 45.00 lacs, which was mentioned on the agreement to sell and the balance money i.e. Rs 1.47 crore. The complainant further paid Rs 40.00 lacs through cheque and Rs 5.00 lacs in cash to accused persons.
Later, the accused did not execute the sale deed on one pretext or other. Further the complainant came to know that the accused persons had transferred the said property to some other persons. Thus, the accused persons in league with one another cheated the complainant.
On receipt of the complaint, a preliminary verification was initiated by Crime Branch Jammu and allegations levelled against the accused were substantiated. Thus the omissions and commissions, on the part of the accused prima facie, constitute offences punishable U/S 420, 120 RPC and a formal case was registered in P/S Crime Branch, Jammu against the three accused persons for in depth investigation.
