JAMMU, Oct 27: A large number of casual labourers and need based workers of various departments conducted ‘Gherao’ of residence of BJP Member Parliament, from Jammu-Poonch constituency, Jugal Kishore Sharma at Gandhinagar here today.
The workers from PHE, PDD, R&B, Agriculture, Estates, Horticulture and several other departments, under the banner of All Departments Casual Labourers United Front Jammu came to the official residence of MP Jugal Kishore Sharma at Gandhinagar during the day today and held strong protest demonstration.
They were demanding regularization of over 60,000 workers before conducting fresh recruitment on 10,000 Class- IV posts, release of pending wages of the workers, implementation of Minimum Wages Act in J&K UT and to accelerate the implementation of SRO-381 issued in favour of PDD workers.
During protest outside BJP MP’s residence, the protesting workers raised loud slogans in favour of their demands and also against BJP and J&K UT Administration. The workers alleged that the Government has failed to release pending wage of a large number of employees. They said the J&K UT Administration has already declared to go for the fast track recruitment of 50,000 posts in J&K and they include 10,000 posts of class IV employees. But before going for such recruitment, the Government should regularize the casual and need based workers.
They pointed out that BJP-PDP Government had issued SRO-520 for the fast track recruitment of the workers in December 2017, but till date this exercise was not completed. The ray of hope for the workers came to an end after they observed that the process was stalled,
Prominent among those present included Hoshiar Singh, Binkal Manhas, Rajinder Singh, Bhanu Partap, Rajan Sharma, Akhil Sharma and others.
