Cash withdrawal from ATM leads to recovery of missing students

JAMMU, Nov 2: Cash withdrawal from Automatic Teller Machine (ATM) led to recovery of students, who went missing from their residence on October 28.
This was stated by Superintendent of Police (SP) North Shiv Kumar Singh Chouhan, while talking to reporters during a press conference here at Residency Road police post.
He disclosed that the parents of three students Arush Singh, son of Khushi Ram, a resident of Kishtwar, at present Krishna Corporation, Asif, son of Maroof Ahmed, resident of Kalar Katal, Surankote and Mashqoor Ahmed, son of Abdul Hamid of Christian Colony, trio students of Tiny Tots School lodged a complaint on October 28 with City police station that their children went missing after being scolded by them for not taking interest in studies.
After registering a missing complaint, police launched manhunt to trace the missing students, he added.
“During the course of investigation, it came to fore that one of missing students Mashqoor Ahmed had withdrawn Rs 10,000 from his father’s ATM card from ATM of a private bank. Police watched the CCTV footage of the ATM and dispatched a team to New Delhi”, SP stated.
Later, the missing students went to Railway Station Jammu and purchased tickets for Calcutta, he said, adding that the students again withdrew some amount from ATM of Mashqoor Ahmed’s father at Bijnor and accordingly a police team was also dispatched to Calcutta to nab the students, Chouhan added.
However, the students instead of reaching Calcutta went to Dehradun and withdrew Rs 500 from ATM and when they again were withdrawing the cash from the ATM, the police team, which was dispatched to Dehradun from Jammu nabbed them, SP said.
SP added that the team brought the students from Dehradun to Jammu and after completing legal formalities, handed them over to their legal heirs.
