Cash, gold seized from TSO in SVO raid

KATHUA, Aug 3: Vigilance sleuths today conducted raids at the offices of Tehsil Supply Officer of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department (FCS&CAD) Kathua and Hirangar as well as at the residence of then TSO Hiranagar Gian Chand Sharma at Palni Parnalla (Billawar) and Roopnagar Jammu and seized documents pertaining to illegally acquired assets by him.
The raids were simultaneously conducted by the sleuths of Vigilance Organization at all the places, an official handout issued by Vigilance Organisation said.

During the raid at Kathua Office the Assistant Director of FCS&CAD,  TSO Rural and TSO Urban besides other staff members were present. The Vigilance team headed by DySP also quizzed them before seizing the record from the office.
During the raids, all relevant record/suspicious documents required in the investigation and pertaining to illegally acquired assets which have been recovered from various locations have been seized by Sleuths of Vigilance Organisation on spot in presence of independent witnesses, the official handout said.
It said the documents seized from the residences of the TSO included some sale deeds regarding property worth lacs of rupees, cash amounting to Rs 2,44,000 , golden ornaments worth Rs. 15,00,000. Besides some other official record was also recovered from his residential house at Roopnagar Jammu and that was too seized for investigation.
The Vigilance Organisation Jammu has initiated investigation against TSO under FIR number 28/2017 U?S 5(!) (d) r/w Section 5(2) J&K PC Act SV 2006, 420 RPC and 120 -B RPC which was registered against him yesterday on the basis of the enquiry conducted by the VO and prima facie establishment of allegations regarding issuance of large number of AAY/BPL ration cards to undeserving and non entitled persons by him as TSO Hiranagar in connivance with Sarpanches and other private beneficiaries. Under the case the TSO has been charged of framing a criminal conspiracy with them and depriving the real beneficiaries under AAY and BPL categories and causing wrongful loss to the Government.
SSP Vigilance Amit Gupta told Excelsior that further scrutiny of the seized record will be carried out during course of investigation by Vigilance Organization.
