Cardamom futures decline 0.71 pc on profit-booking

NEW DELHI, May 19:  Cardamom prices fell by 0.71 per cent to Rs 974 per kg in futures trade today as speculators booked profits at prevailing higher levels amid a weak demand in the spot market against adequate stocks position.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in July declined by Rs 7, or 0.71 per cent, to Rs 974 per kg in a business turnover of 36 lots.
Likewise, the spice for delivery in June shed Rs 5.10, or 0.52 per cent, to Rs 977 per kg in 277 lots.
Analysts said besides profit-booking by speculators at current levels, subdued demand in the spot market against adequate supplies from producing regions mainly led to decline in cardamom prices at futures trade. (PTI)
