RAMBAN, June 2: Keeping a vigil over smuggling of narcotics in the district, police today arrested a car driver along with 450 grams of charas near Shan Palace area on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.
As per police sources, on specific inputs, police party from Ramban police station laid a trap near Shan Palace on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway and signaled a Maruti car bearing registration number JK13B-0776.
On seeing the police party, the driver speds up the vehicle and tried to escape, but the active cops of Ramban police station chased the vehicle and intercepted it at some distance from the trap point.
During checking, police recovered 450 grams of charas and arrested the driver of the vehicle, who has been identified as Shabir Ahmed alias Chowda, son of Firoz Din of Bhati, district Ramban.
A case under FIR number 62/15 under Section 8/20 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at police station Ramban and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Ramban police station Inspector Ajay Singh Chib made the arrest under the supervision of Joginder Singh, DySP DAR and Randeep Kumar, SSP Ramban.
