Not specifically , not to a particular department , office, institution run on Government’s financial support but all, as a policy, must adhere to spending only when it was extremely important and thus adopt the principle of optimum use of the scarce resources . That means not indulging in avoidable expenses thus adopting austerity measures. UT Finance Department having asked Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) to adopt such slew of measures which have been listed by the Finance Department for “strict adherence” as a prudent measure of adopting and promoting fiscal discipline.
The trend of creating and filling posts by many a PSU needs to be contained as it is found the same has not been on need based principle and now such an exercise has got to be regulated and relaxation given only in exceptional cases. In the same way , avoidable physical meetings and conferences in five star hotels as also tendency to purchase new vehicles need to be reviewed and most of such purposes of conferences and meetings can be served through video conferencing. Non-development expenditures too need to be curtailed. Moreover, since PSUs are primarily commercial, they must concentrate on earning more and avoiding losses.
