Cabinet meeting today

JAMMU, Nov 18: State Cabinet is meeting under the chairmanship of Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed tomorrow morning to take decision on several important issues.
Official sources told EXCELSIOR that the Cabinet would meet at 10 am at Civil Secretariat. This would be the first meeting of the Cabinet following opening of Darbar at Jammu on November 9.
The Cabinet would have detailed deliberations on Rs 88000 crore package announced recently by the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi and chalk out strategy for its effective and timely implementation.
“The Cabinet Ministers from both the coalition partners would highlight priorities of their respective departments so as to ensure that the benefits of the central package percolate to the common masses within shortest possible time”, sources said while disclosing that following detailed deliberations Cabinet would chalk out the strategy in this regard.
It is pertinent to mention here that while announcing the central package, the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi had explicitly stated that implementation of package would be the real yardstick for measuring the performance of PDP-BJP Coalition Government in the State.
According to the sources, the Cabinet would also discuss the proposal of the Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution Department regarding implementation of National Food Security Act (NFSA) from January 1, 2016.
“The CAPD Department has decided to initially implement NFSA in six districts of the State—Kathua, Samba and Udhampur in Jammu region and Ganderbal, Budgam and Shopian in Kashmir valley”, sources said, adding after detailed deliberations on pros and cons of the CAPD Department’s proposal the Cabinet would take final decision on implementation of National Food Security Act.
The Cabinet will also discuss the proposal of the Education Department regarding promulgation of ordinance in order to make the proposed Cluster Universities in Jammu and Srinagar functional from the forthcoming academic session.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Union Ministry of Human Resources Development has accorded sanction for establishment of two Cluster Universities—one each in capital cities of Jammu and Kashmir under Rashtriya Ucchtar Shiksha Abhiyan. Each Cluster University will be spreading in five existing Government colleges in the capital cities where schools of different faculties are to be established.
Sources further informed that Cabinet would also discuss the proposal regarding rehabilitation of those people, whose land has been acquired for Kishanganga Hydroelectric Project.
