By-poll results in LAHDC warning bells for BJP: Bhalla

JAMMU, Sept 17: Working president of JKPCC, Raman Bhalla today congratulated Congress Leh unit for the victory in by-polls in Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) on Saturday.
He also congratulated Congress candidate Tashi Tundup for defeating Dorjay Namgayal of BJP by 273 votes in the Temisgam constituency of LAHDC, Leh. While Tundup secured 861 votes, the BJP candidate could poll only 588 votes. He said people of Ladakh want the sixth schedule of the Constitution to be extended in the region to protect jobs, land and culture’ but the BJP failed in providing the same despite repeated demand and agitation.
Bhalla said the local BJP leaders failed to reflect the feelings and aspirations of common people of Ladakh in front of their national leadership. “Congress will however, keep raising the voice of people,” said Bhalla.
JKPCC leader said present BJP-controlled administration in J&K is a non-performing liability and regretted that instead of solving the basic problems of the people the present regime is brazenly indulged in deceitful tactics of diverting the attention of the common masses from day-to-day issues. He observed that the J&K has been plunged into an unprecedented crisis due to the deceiving tactics of the BJP to enjoy power without accountability and transparency.
“Fed-up with the false promises of the BJP, the residents people are looking towards Congress to get them rid from the yoke of this dictatorial and anti-people regime at J&K and also at the Centre”, Bhalla said and asserted that Congress will not remain as a mute spectator to the unending woes of the people.
Launching a scathing attack on the BJP-controlled administration in J&K for committing atrocities on local residents, Bhalla said that the achievements of the present regime are confined only to papers but on the ground, the situation is going from bad to worse. “Except photo sessions and publicity at the cost of state exchequer, nothing has been done for the last some years in J&K”, he said.
