KATRA, June 26: Katra Police today arrested a driver and conductor of a bus for smuggling illicit liquor in the holy town.
A Police party, led by SHO Katra Inspector Kuldeep Krishan, under the supervision of Dr Ashok Sharma, SDPO Katra, apprehended two persons namely Parmanand (Driver) of Chadai Muttal and Khushvinder Singh (Conductor) of Tikkri from Bus Stand Katra and recovered 10 poly pouches measuring 250/250 ml of J&K Excise Liquor, two bottles of XXX Rum measuring 750/750 ml each, one tin beer measuring 500 ml and one bottle rum measuring 250 ml from their possession.
Both the accused were working as driver and conductor of bus bearing registration No.2193/JK12 and were indulged in sale of illicit liquor in holy town Katra. Bus bearing registration No. 2193/JK12 has also been seized which was used for transportation of liquor.
In this connection case FIR number 105/2015 U/S 48-A Excise Act and 188/RPC has been registered at Police Station Katra.
