SRINAGAR, Jan 24: National Conference (NC) president and Member Parliament from Srinagar Dr Farooq Abdullah today said the stifling bureaucratic policies have left people of Jammu and Kashmir to suffer.
The administrative and developmental inertia has led to a chaotic situation, Dr Farooq said while addressing a public gathering in Shahar-e-Khas area, here today. “In the current spell of the bureaucratic rule, people have no access to the top echelons of the administration, especially at a time when the people are inundated with problems like ration curtailment, power outages, unprecedented inflation, and scathing unemployment,” he added.
The NC president said that all sectors of public service like health, sanitation, power, public health engineering are in shambles and the people had been left in a lurch. “Nobody is bothered to take cognizance and note the problems faced by the citizens,” he added.
Dr Farooq exhorted the party cadre to intensify public outreach, identify people’s grievances and raise them at appropriate levels. “Bureaucracy is showing scant regard for the poor and downtrodden. It is rather unfortunate that the Government has mobilized all its machinery to dispossess the poor at a time when it should have been making efforts to provide comfort and cushion to people, particularly during this ongoing harsh winter spell,” he added.
