JAMMU, Mar 16: Finance Minister, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari, handed over a Tata Xenon car to J&K Grameen bank for demonstration of banking technology through mobile van support under “Financial Inclusion Fund”
The main purpose of the mobile van is to spread financial literacy awareness among rural people and to sensitize and enable merchants as well as customers to use digital payment system.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister made the people aware regarding the benefit of the various schemes of J&K Grameen Bank like SHG, JLG, Handicraft Loans, etc. He also lauded the bank for making extraordinary efforts to make the social security schemes a big success.
Chief General Manager, NABARD, Vijay Kumar, vice president, J&K Bank, Rakesh Gandotra and other dignitaries appreciated the efforts made by the bank in conducting 174 D-FLAP programmes in just 30 days throughout the State. They said that the bank is making extra ordinary efforts to make the national programme of social security scheme a big success.
RK Chhibber, Chairman, J&K Grameen Bank, also spoke on the occasion and informed that J&K Grameen Bank has 217 branches in J&K State. He spoke about the various loan facilities provided by the bank. He added that the interest rates on loans and advances in JKGB are lowest amongst other banks.
He also added that the bank is capable of doing macro loans and has second largest coverage in J&K which covers all the remote areas of the State. “A number of new schemes have been introduced by the bank for financing under Agriculture/Horticulture and setting up of Industries in J&K. Bank has already financed various industrial units in SIDCO Complex, Samba”, Chhibber added.
