Bukhari announces Rs 30 lakh for maintenance of AG’s office

SRINAGAR, Sept 2: Minister for Law, Justice, Parliamentary Affairs, Relief and Rehabilitation, Syed Basharat Bukhari, today announced Rs 30 lakh for repairs and maintenance of Advocate General’s office in the High Court Complex that was damaged during last year’s flood.
The Minister made this announcement during his visit to the Advocate General’s office here today. The Minister was accompanied by Advocate General, Jahangir Iqbal Ganai, Secretary Law, Muhammad Ashraf Mir besides senior officers of the Law Department.
The Minister while taking note of space constraints at the office and need for suitable accommodation for the law officers announced Rs 30 lakh for its repair and maintenance. He asked the concerned to prepare the DPR for the same so that the required work could be taken up at the earliest.
The Minister during his visit also interacted with the law officers and ministerial staff of the office.
He said with the recent massive hike in remuneration of the law officers, the Government would be expecting commensurate results from them while dealing with the cases of the State in the High Court and the subordinate courts. He said the department would also carry out a periodic performance review of the Law Officers to further improve the service delivery.
He also said that efforts are being made to provide adequate funds to the High Court and the Advocate General’s office for library facilities.
