BSP’s refined approach: Chooses social media for campaigning in UP

LUCKNOW : Taking a complete U-turn from her earlier campaign trails, all of which had a ‘unique’ quotient, BSP chief Mayawati is now eyeing the social media to garner votes.
Ms Mayawati, who always keeps her campaign entirely different from other political parties and claims that her supporters do not watch television, has this time decided to compete with her arch rivals through social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, apart from radio and TV in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls, to be held between February 11 to March 8.
Ms Mayawati, who celebrated her 61st birthday on Sunday and will launch her aggressive campaign in western UP from February 1, is leaving no stone unturned to woo the prospective voters.
For the first time, even the Non-Resident Indians (NRI) are uploading videos on YouTube to promote Mayawati’s claim to power, projecting her as the ‘toughest administrator,’ who can deliver terror-free atmosphere to public, as well as the industrialists and businessmen.
These NRIs first mentioned about Dr BR Ambedkar and the Constitution laid by him and later mentioned that the country will not be run on ‘Manuwad’ or ‘Vampanth,’ but with the rule of the law, which only BSP can give in Uttar Pradesh.
Party sources today said that BSP has already launched several posters, videos and slogans through social media on her birthday on January 15, asking people ‘behenji ko aane do’ (Let Mayawati Come), and several other slogans, appealing to the voters as well as the party cadres, to ensure the formation of BSP Government in the state.
The well-designed campaign not only appeals for restoring Behenji’s Government for good governance, but also aims to attack her political opponents, mainly on lawlessness, corruption, and underdevelopment during the present Samajwadi Party regime and the anti-people decisions of the Narendra Modi-led government at the Centre, including demonetisation.
Sources further said that a promotional song “BSP Sarkar Banao’ (Form BSP’s Government) to ensure victory of BSP has been already recorded in the voice of prominent Bollywood singer Kailesh Kher. This song contains praises of Mayawati “Sapno Ke Phankh Lagane ku, behenji ku aane do” for her good governance and curses for Samajwadi Party for giving jungleraj, lawlessness, gonda raj and cheating the public by inaugurating incomplete projects.
While Kailesh Kher claimed that he just sing song with blessings of ‘Goddess Swarswati’ sometime after taking fees and sometime even free, the song composer Manoj Muntasar, claimed to have done the job free as he had good relations with senior BSP leader Satish Chandra Mishra.
It may be mentioned that Kailash Kher recently sung some promotional songs to highlight outstanding achievements of Akhilesh Yadav’s government including the one made for chief minister’s dream project ‘Agro-Lucknow Expressway’.
Sources said that besides campaign through social media, Mayawati will also address at least 50 big and small meetings across the state to garner support for the Party candidates and to form BSP government for the fifth time.
Even the campaign for these rallies will be made through social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp and YouTube. (AGENCIES)
