JAMMU, Jan 29: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) demanded certificates for border migrants like border certificates who risk their lives every moment while at their houses along IB and LoC in Jammu and Kashmir.
Addressing a press conference, Som Raj Majotra, President, BSP Jammu said that Government is non-serious about the sufferings of border migrants and is only making political benefits out of it. He further said that if demands are not redressed in due time, BSP will launch a state-wide agitation against the State Government for rights of these border migrants.
He further said that BSP will contest upcoming Panchayat election for the betterment of democratic setup of the country especially Jammu and Kashmir. He appealed masses to extend their support to BSP candidates.
While criticizing the State Government, Majotra alleged that surveys which are being done for identification of deserving poor have never been conducted properly and the benefits of centre and State schemes are not reaching to deserving poor. He said that this was even brought in notice of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti during her Kathua visit but no action has been taken in this regard.
He also said that Social Security Scheme benefits like widow and old age pensions and financial assistance schemes have not been allocated since the Coalition Government has taken over in the State.
Majotra also said that old age pension which State Government consider as one of its biggest achievements is nowhere on ground. He said that new enrollment for old age pension scheme has not been done for the last four years and Government has failed to take cognizance of this.
Among others present were Charanjeet Vice-President, Jagdish Verma, RK Thappa, Ashok Bhagat, Pritam Chand, Badri Nath, Lakhbir Singh, Pawan Kundal, Varinder Bhagat, Raja Singh, Girdhari Lal and Hari Chand Thappa.
