In first high level hotline contact between BSF and Rangers after fresh hostilities erupted between the two sides on the International Border (IB), the Inspector Commanders of both sides spoke on hotline late this evening and called for peace on the borders and implementation of ceasefire agreement.
Reliable sources said the Jammu Sector Commander of the BSF and Sialkot Sector Commander of the Rangers spoke on hotline this evening after last night’s heavy shelling and firing by both sides.
The BSF called upon the Rangers to strictly adhere to the ceasefire agreement and maintain peace on the International Border. The Rangers Commander responded positively, sources said.
The Rangers assured that there will be no firing from their side, they added.
The hotline contact lasted about five minutes.
After fresh hostilities broke out between BSF and Rangers in Arnia sector on Wednesday, this was first hotline contact between the two sides. Sources said if peace prevailed on the borders, the hotline contact could be followed by the flag meeting.
