BSF, Rangers hold casual contact

JAMMU, June 23: The BSF and Rangers today held casual contact at Nikowal Border Out Post (BOP) near Joura Farm in RS Pura sector in which the BSF lodged protest over two recent ceasefire violations by the Rangers on the International Border.
The BSF warned the Rangers against ceasefire violations, official sources said, adding the meeting lasted 20 minutes. The Rangers, as usual remained in denial mode.
Meanwhile, a live 81 mm mortar shell was recovered in a field close to the International Border (IB) in Samba district today.
“A blind 81 mm mortar shell was found by one Preet Pal Singh near Gallad Border Out Post (BoP) in Samba district this morning during farming,” official sources said.
They said the BSF troops rushed to the spot and seized the shell.
The matter is being investigated, they said, adding that the shell was defused safely.
