BSF constable among 2 arrested with heroin

JAMMU, Mar 29: Two persons including a Border Security Force (BSF) constable have been arrested along with heroin in Chowki Choura area, falling under the jurisdiction of Akhnoor Police Station.
This was stated by Superintendent of Police (SP) Rural Shivdeep Singh Jamwal while interacting with media persons at Akhnoor Police Station this afternoon.
As per police sources, during checking, a team from Chowki Choura Police Post intercepted a Mahindra Bolera vehicle bearing registration number JK12A-5995.
SP further stated that during checking, police recovered 680 grams of heroin valuing Rs 68 lakh from the possession of two persons traveling in the vehicle and arrested them, adding that the arrested persons have been identified as Mohammad Azad, son of Fazal Hussain and Ghulam Mustafa, son of Mohammad Naseeb, both resident of Dundhak, tehsil Surankote, district Poonch.
One of the arrested person namely Ghulam Mustafa is a constable posted with 98 Battalion BSF, Jamwal said, adding that a case under FIR Number 59/18 under Section 8/21/22/29 NDPS Act has been registered against them at Police Station Akhnoor and investigation started to ascertain the source of the consignment.
Police team led by SHO Akhnoor Inspector Shivdev Singh and assisted by Incharge Chowki Choura Police Post SI Ravi Kumar made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO Akhnoor Munish Anand, SP Rural Shivdeep Singh Jamwal and SSP Jammu Vivek Gupta.
