British MP meets KP, Sikh delegations; visits Jagti

JAMMU, Feb 17: British MP Robert John Blackman who is better known as Bob Blackman during his last day of tour of Jammu province met various delegations and cross sections of the people.
Mr Blackman who besides his wife was accompanied by Laxmi Koul Founder of KP Cultural Society London met a group of KP intellectuals, leaders of various KP organizations, artists, PM package employees working in Valley and a delegation of Sikh community of Jammu led by S Harmohinder Singh, chairman Jammu and Kashmir Sikh Council.
While talking with KP intellectuals Bob Blackman asserted that Britain has always supported the Indian cause and he as MP has championed the cause of Hindus as well as Kashmiri Pandits. He said he had raised the voice for KPs in every fora.
Admitting that people in the State have suffered a lot due to Pak sponsored terrorism, he said that Britain will use its good influence over Pakistan  and exert pressure on it to end terrorist activities in Kashmir.
He said he will be happiest person the day when displaced Kashmiri Pandits return to their homes and hearths in Valley.
The British MP also visited Jagti township and interacted with camp inmates there and listened their problems. He went round the quarters in which the displaced people are putting up at Jagti and expressed his concern over the problems being faced by them. He assured them that he will take up these issues with Union Government during his visit to Delhi.
He also met with the package employees from Kashmir who narrated their problems to him and inspected a Seva Bharti run Tailoring and Cutting Centre at Jagti.
The Kashmir displaced Unit BJP also handed over a memorandum to him. Aryan Ramesh Secretary AIKS accompanied him during his Jammu visit.
The Sikh delegation which called on Bob Blackman discussed various issues with him and also highlighted the demands of the Sikh Community of the State. The MP was informed about the long pending demand of the people of the State like constitution of the State Minority Rights Commission, strengthening of the Human Rights Commission and other panels of accountability and transparency to strengthen the administrative institutions.
The delegation also discussed the issues related to demand of the community members regarding seeking amnesty for the misguided youth who were implicated in cases of violence, seeking political reservations for the members of the Sikh community in the State. During discussion the safety of members of Sikh community and their properties in Kashmir was also raised.
The delegation said that Sikh community wants friendly relations with neighboring country and want promotion of LoC Trade.
