British Dy High Commissioner, Poswal call on Governor

SRINAGAR, Sept 20: Dr. Alexander Evans, Deputy High Commissioner, British High Commission in India, accompanied by Alex Pykett, First Secretary, British High Commission, New Delhi called on Governor N. N. Vohra at the Raj Bhavan here today.
Dr. Evans discussed with the Governor various matters relating to promotion of Indo-UK relations.
Meanwhile, Eshfaq ur Rehman Poswal, BJP leader, called on Governor.
Rehman discussed with Governor several issues relating to the development and upliftment of Gujjar and Bakkerwal communities of J&K including   creation of a special Regiment for Gujjar and Bakkerwal youth; adequate funding to the State’s Tribal Affairs Department from the Prime Minister’s Rs. 80,000 crore package to improve the quality of life of these two communities; and certain issues relating to the development of Karnah Constituency, including construction of a tunnel across the Sadhna Pass for providing better connectivity to the people of his area.
Governor urged Poswal to continue sustained endeavours for the welfare and development of the Gujjar and Bakkerwal communities.
