Training programme on media writing begins at CUJ

JAMMU, Nov 15: Deputy Speaker, Rajya Sabha Harivansh today said that bringing truth to the forefront is the only religion of journalism even as the form and work of journalism is changing with the passage of time.
He was speaking as chief guest at the inaugural session of five day FDP cum Training Programme on” Media Writing and Programme Production “at Central University of Jammu, here today.
The FDP cum Training Programme is being organized by the Department of Mass Communication and New Media, CUJ, in collaboration with VigyanPrasar. Prof Sanjeev Jain, Vice Chancellor Central University of Jammu, Rajinder Sharma, Mayor, Jammu Municipal Corporation; Rajesh Badal, Executive Director RSTV; Nimish Kapoor , Senior Scientist VigyanPrasar were also present in the inaugural session.
In his address, Harivansh focussed on the main theme of the event “Changing Dimensions of Media Education in the Context of NEP 2020 “. He thoroughly discussed about the media education during earlier times. He also impressed on the importance of Artificial Intelligence in present times.
He said there are immense opportunities in this field of study but at the same time there comes several challenges as well”.
Earlier, in his welcome address Vice-Chancellor Prof Sanjeev Jain said that Journalism is rightly considered as the fourth pillar of democracy. He underlined the importance of social media in nation building and said that every person has become a journalist in this world of social networking by utilising various forms of media at their disposal. He emphasized on establishing a startup ecosystem and said: ” Be Job givers , not job seekers”.
JMC Mayor Rajinder Sharma also discussed about the main theme of the event. He said: ” In this world where we are flooded with information, media education plays a vital role”.
While delivering his address, Rajesh Badal, Executive Director RSTV, discussed about the importance of Science communication in this developing world and said that the journalism is one of the noblest professions in the world.
Towards the end of the programme a formal vote of thanks was proposed by Nimish Kapoor, Senior Scientist Vigyan Prasar.
The entire event was organised under the sponsorship of VigyanPrasar, Northern Command Udhampur, State Bank of India and media partners of the workshop were Dainik Jagran, JK Channel, Umar Ujala and Daily Excelsior.
