ACB arrests Sarpanch

Srinagar, Nov 15: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) today trapped and arrested Sarpanch, Halqa Panzgam, Awantipora, Gulam Mohammad Dar, for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 5,000.
A statement issued by the ACB said that it received a complaint against Gulam Mohammad Dar son of Asad Ullah Dar of Panzgam, Awantipora in Pulwama district who is Sarpanch, Halqa Panzgam, Awantipora, for demanding bribe of Rs 5,000 for passing and signing of Labour Muster Roll of Labours engaged under “MGNREGA” Scheme by the concerned Contractor.
It said that a complaint (case FIR No. 17/2022) was registered at Police Station ACB South Kashmir and investigations started.
“After registration of case, a trap team was constituted,” the statement said.
The team caught red handed the accused Dar for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 5,000. He was arrested on spot after completing necessary legal formalities.
