Bring visible changes in horticulture sector: Advisor Farooq

JAMMU, Feb 15: Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Farooq Khan, today chaired the Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) of Jammu and Kashmir Horticulture Produce Marketing and Processing Corporation (JKHPMC) at Civil Secretariat.
The meeting accorded approval to a special resolution presented by the concerned which ‘stated that pursuant to Section 42, 62 and other applicable provisions of the Company Act 2013, read with the applicable rules, regulations there to and the Articles of Association of the Company and such other necessary approvals, if any, the consent of the Shareholders is hereby accorded to offer, issue and allot 79,995 equity shares of the face value of Rs 100 each to the shareholder viz UT of J&K at an issue price of Rs 13,268.33 each (including premium of Rs 13,167.33) per share’.
Describing horticulture as key contributor towards UTs economy, Advisor emphasized upon the need of bringing in some visible changes in the sector. He also called for revival and modernization of horticulture sector.
Principal Secretary, Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Navin K Choudhary and MD JKHPMC Shafat Sultan were present in the meeting.
Meanwhile, Advisor Farooq Khan reviewed functioning of hostels of Pahari Speaking Board besides taking stock of activities of Social Welfare Department in Migrant Camps at Jagti and Purkhoo.
Advisor had a detailed review of facilities being provided to the students at hostels of Pahari Speaking Board. He was apprised that there are 9 hostels including 6 Boys hostels and 3 Girls hostels. He was also briefed about the need for repair and renovation of hostel buildings for safety of hostel inmates.
While reviewing activities of Social Welfare Department in Migrant Camps especially Anganwadi Centers, Advisor asked the officers to create mass awareness regarding the departmental schemes so that every eligible person is benefited. He directed the officers to conduct regular visits of every Anganwadi Center to monitor the functioning of these vital facilities especially nutrition being provided to the children.
Principal Secretary, Social Welfare Department, Bipul Pathak and other senior officers of the department and Pahari Speaking Board were present in the respective meetings.
