Boy drowns, another rescued

SRINAGAR,  Aug 16: A youth drowned in south Kashmir’s Pampore Town while another was rescued in Sopore Township of north Kashmir.
The boy, identified as Danish Mushtaq Bhat, drowned at Galandar Pampore while bathing. The body of the deceased was later fished out by army, police and locals.
In another incident, the Marine Commandos (MARCOS) of army rescued a boy from river Jhelum at Hathi Shah in Sopore.
An official said that the incident took place when MARCOS were patrolling Jhelum river in Sopore today. He said that the MARCOS heard the shouts of locals as the boy was drowning.
The boy was identified as 15-year old Imran Ahmad Ganai. “The boy was handed over to police and  subsequently they handed him to his parents,” he added.
